Supplements for brain health brain health research report

Most people believe a progressive decline in overall brain function is a natural process of aging. This degenerative process causes us to lose our short-term memory and abstract reasoning ability. It also may make concentration or learning new information difficult. Many neurological diseases are also directly related to aging such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson's.

Many published studies have shown that the decline of brain function can be delayed, or even reversed, by proper diet and/or supplementation. This report is a review of the existing research done on the ingredients in Melaleuca’s Unforgettables™ dietary supplement.

-Omega-3s in Fish Oil

Cold water fish is high on the list of brain foods because EPA and DHA, the omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish, have been linked to enhanced memory and brain function. The fish chosen by Melaleuca for the supplement Unforgettables are anchovy, mackerel, and sardine. These fish are small and live only a short time; not long enough to accumulate a buildup of harmful mercury. The fish are also pre-screened for mercury content before processing.

In the United States and Canada, omega-3 intake through diet alone is very low because it is usually limited to canola oil, corn oil, and other cooking oils, as well as walnuts and flaxseed oil. These plant-based sources give us a form of omega-3 which then needs to be converted into DHA by the body. In women, the conversion rate to DHA is about 7%, and in men it is less than 1%. Needless to say, these plant based sources of omega-3 are not the optimal way to feed our brains with plenty of DHA, which is what is needed for best brain, eye, and heart functioning. Since cold-water fish oil is already rich in DHA, adding it to the diet as a supplement is the best way to provide your body with DHA.

Scientists working on a nine-year study completed in 2006 found that patients with dementia have less DHA in their brains than patients of the same age without dementia. There is a 47% reduction in risk for developing dementia when DHA levels in the brain are high. Free radicals do more damage in the aged brain when there is a deficiency of DHA because DHA protects the brain from oxidative stress. Studies are finding that supplementation with fish-based DHA, and another component of fish oil known as EPA, can delay and lessen the impact of age-associated diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

-Vitamin E and Blueberry Extract

Vitamin E and blueberry extract act as antioxidants in Melaleuca’s Unforgettables. The two of these are together in a single supplement because the synergy between them increases their benefits. Just as we said in our “Antioxidants for Natural Cellular Protection” Research Report, “Many studies have indicated that combinations of antioxidant vitamins, carotenoids and flavonoids are believed to be more effective than supplementation with any of these nutrients alone.”

Vitamin E is purported to be a very important ingredient for optimal brain health. It could possibly halt or slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease because it relieves oxidative stress to brain cells. The brain is rich in lipids (fatty compounds) which are susceptible to oxidative damage from free radicals. Oxidative stress can really damage memory function, and brain cells in general. When the damage has been done, older adults start showing symptoms of “age associated memory impairment.” In the brain, antioxidant molecules like those in vitamin E and blueberries “wage war against molecules known as free radicals, which can harm brain cells and brain function.” Vitamin E has actually been shown to block the death of neurons in the brain. Essentially, a good vitamin E supplement can prevent or slow the rate of cognitive decline as the brain ages.

Blueberries can alleviate inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, according to a study done by Thomas Kuhn, PhD, of the University of Alaska. Two of the most damaging players in brain aging are inflammation and oxidative stress. We learned that vitamin E helps to alleviate the oxidative stress and now we find that blueberries can help to lessen the inflammation of the spinal cord and brain tissue. Blueberry can also strengthen the communication between neural cells and can actually REVERSE damage done to the circuitry in the brain. The neural circuitry in the brain tends to resemble a tree or leaf, with branches and sub-branches feeding off the main stem. In brains of memory impaired rats, some of the branches have withered and become disconnected. Studies done on older memory impaired rats that were fed a diet supplemented with blueberries found that blueberry could return brain structure back to normal, as well as prevent the breakdown of neuronal communication. -Gingko Biloba

Gingko biloba is featured in all of Melaleuca’s ProVex products for cardiovascular health because its properties include the improvement of blood flow and the ability to block the effects of blood clotting. It is added as an ingredient in Unforgettables for these reasons and because of another property it possesses — the protection against oxidative cell damage from free radicals. A recent six-month study on the effects of gingko biloba in the diet of ten patients, with no dementia but mild memory loss, found that after supplementing with at least 120 mg twice daily, verbal recall was improved. PET scans showed better brain function in brain memory centers. A French study found that long term supplementation of gingko biloba “enables cognitive performance to be maintained for longer, and indicates that the development of Alzheimer’s disease can be prevented or at least delayed.”

In a meta-review of previously published studies on gingko biloba related to memory function, a “small but significant effect” to short-term recall was found when patients were treated with 120 mg to 240 mg over three to six months.(9)

-Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid normally found in nearly every cell in your body. A phospholipid is a type of lipid. Lipids add to cell structure and are a source of fuel. In the brain PS operates in part as a communication facilitator between nerve cells.

Most Phosphatidylserine research has been conducted with PS derived from the brain tissue of cows, and shows a substantial health benefit in age-related cognitive decline, but because of concerns about the possibility of humans contracting infectious diseases such as "mad cow" disease, this form is not available in the US.

More recent data suggests that the complexation of standardized Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) with soy-derived phospholipids, the form used in Melaleuca's Unforgettables, enhances the bio-availability of GBE's active components.

Results of a recent study utilizing ginkgo biloba extract with soy-derived phospholipids showed that "administration of GBE complexed with Phosphatidylserine resulted both in improved secondary memory performance and significantly increased speed of memory task performance across all of the post-dose testing sessions."

It appears from this study that Phosphatidylserine acts synergistically to enhance the cognitive effects associated with a low dose of GBE. Further research is required to identify whether this effect is due to the complexation of the extracts, their mere combination, or the separate psychopharmacological actions of the two extracts.

-Conclusion

The ingredients in Unforgettables are a well-chosen blend of brain health ingredients whose positive synergistic effects can help to maintain cognitive function in older adults. We have seen that two of the most damaging effects of age to the brain are inflammation and oxidative stress caused by free radicals. The ingredients in Unforgettables combat against both of these adverse side-effects of aging.

Pros and cons of flash based sites

Pros and Cons of Flash-based Sites

Flash-based sites have been a craze since the past few years, and as Macromedia compiles more and more great features into Flash, we can only predict there will be more and more flash sites around the Internet. However, Flash based sites have been disputed to be bloated and unnecessary. Where exactly do we draw the line? Here's a simple breakdown.

The good:

Interactivity

Flash's Actionscript opens up a vast field of possibilities. Programmers and designers have used Flash to create interactve features ranging from very lively feedback forms to attractive Flash-based games. This whole new level of interactivity will always leave visitors coming back for more.

A standardized site

With Flash, you do not have to worry about cross-browser compatibility. No more woes over how a certain css code displays differently in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. When you position your site elements in Flash, they will always appear as they are as long as the user has Flash Player installed.

Better expression through animation

In Flash, one can make use of its animating features to convey a message in a much more efficient and effective way. Flash is a lightweight option for animation because it is vector based (and hence smaller file sizes) as opposed to real "movie files" that are raster based and hence much larger in size.

The bad and the ugly:

The Flash player

People have to download the Flash player in advance before they can view Flash movies, so by using Flash your visitor range will decrease considerably because not everyone will be willing to download the Flash player just to view your site. You'll also have to put in additional work in redirecting the user to the Flash download page if he or she doesn't have the player installed.

Site optimization

If your content was presented in Flash, most search engines wouldn't be able to index your content. Hence, you will not be able to rank well in search engines and there will be less traffic heading to your site.

Loading time

Users have to wait longer than usual to load Flash content compared to regular text and images, and some visitors might just lose their patience and click the Back button. The longer your Flash takes to load, the more you risk losing visitors.

The best way to go is to use Flash only when you absolutely need the interactivity and motion that comes with it. Otherwise, use a mixture of Flash and HTML or use pure text if your site is purely to present simple textual and graphical information.

How to Choose the Right eBay Product Category.

Some people think it's easy to choose the right eBay category, and often it is. Sometimes, though, it might not be quite clear exactly what to go for.

Why is it Even Important?

Plenty of people use the category system to find items, when they're not looking for something specific. If your item is listed in the wrong category - or you've just given up and listed it in 'Everything Else' - then these people aren't going to find your auction.

Also, listing items in the wrong categories is against eBay's rules, and eBay say they will remove any auctions that are wrongly categorised. They don't often actually do this, but it's not worth the risk - especially since breaking any rules can cause them to penalise your account, including losing PowerSeller status if you have it.

So What Can You Do?

eBay will suggest categories for you when you sell your item, if you type in a few words to describe the item on the category selection page and click 'search'. You can make the best of this feature by typing in exactly what your item is, with brand name and model number (if any), so that eBay can find the best category for you.

If that doesn't work for you, then search yourself for items like yours, and pay attention to which category most of them seem to be in (you can see this near the top of each item's description page). Try different words and see which ones come back with the most results. You can also browse through all the available categories from eBay's front page.

Remember that the more specific the category is, the better - use as many subcategories as are appropriate. Don't just list your HP laptop in the 'Computers' category, for example - list it in 'Computers > Laptops > HP'. Don't worry: your item will still appear in the 'Computers' category, as well as 'Computers > Laptops', because items listed in subcategories are always listed in every category above.

Take some time to look through all the categories and get familiar with the way eBay as a whole is laid out. After all, that's better than getting a few months down the line and finding that you still think of eBay's category system like it's some kind of scary jungle.

What if More Than One Category Fits?

Don't worry, eBay have you covered. For a small extra fee, you can list your item in an extra category, to increase the number of potential buyers who will see it. This isn't always worth it, though - some items only really fit properly in one category, and listing them in extra categories is just a waste.

Once you know where to list your item, the next step is to write your auction's title. The title is the most important thing about your auction - the difference between a good title and a bad title can be the difference between $10 and $100. That's why I'll take you through the dos and don'ts in the next email.

How to choose gifts

If you need to watch your money, go for small, simple gifts, but always do quality! Showing class is always superior to tackiness and they will feel more special and associate you with quality. A cheaply made or cheesy gift is not likely to be favorably remembered by adults, but will soon become their clutter. Better to give one or two special flowers than a whole bouquet of common supermarket flowers. Inexpensive, tasteful, quality gifts might include: homemade preserves, four or more quality cloth napkins, a bottle of wine, a well made scented candle, a living plant, gourmet rice, a local item from a recent trip such as a wheel of cheese or a bar of handmade soap, or a small box or bar of gourmet chocolate.

To score a perfect match, choose items that most people use or that you know they in particular will use, and then just give quality. Avoid giving sweets to dieters and diabetics, wine to tea-totallers, books to non-readers, ties to casual dressers, and so forth. Secretly write down when someone mentions a small need or desire, because this could guide you to an excellent gift in the future. Surprisingly, most people have not gotten the item for themselves even half a year later.

Be careful giving gifts in the nature of the recipient’s expertise unless they have mentioned specifically what they want or you are certain of what will be well received. If they are an excellent gardener, you might wish to avoid giving plants or garden tools. If they are a wine connoisseur, it’s safest not to give wine. Their desires will be specific in these areas and it would be easy to miss the mark. On the other hand a quality, expensive gift in that area might be a great success if they don’t already have it.

If you are giving anything in media, such as a book, dvd, or music, it is safest to give items that have been published this year, unless you know the item is on their wish list.

Dieting without sacrifice

Dieting Without Sacrifice

So many people view dieting as some sort of cosmic punishment for not having the perfect body. They believe that enjoying food is somehow bad for them, which couldn't be further from the truth. If you want to be completely honest with yourself, when it comes to dieting, it isn't about giving up food or flavor; it's about discovering new foods and flavors. At least that is what it is for those who truly love food as well as adventure.

There are many spices out there that can make even the blandest of foods a little exciting. Fish and chicken are popular diet foods because they are lean meats. However, adding a little blackening seasoning is a great way to put a little punch in your meal that will make it taste great without packing on the calories of dressing marinades or soaking in butter before broiling. You do not have to stop there. Italian seasoning can also add a little flavor to your kitchen without adding the extra calories that you are working so hard to avoid.

There are all kinds of seasonings that will work well in this instance. Many great seasonings for chicken also make great additions to chicken that will be included in salads for healthier lunches or salad wraps. Grains are good for you when you concentrate on whole grains. They are quite often the primary source of fiber in a diet and you need fiber almost as much as you need water. At any rate, simple things that spice up the same old lunch can have a huge impact on your enjoyment of food.

You can even enjoy the occasional treat when dieting as long as you do so sparingly. The key when dieting is to learn about proper portions and moderate indulgence. You can find all kinds of low sugar or low carb desserts on the market that you can enjoy sparingly. You can even find sugar free or low calorie candy in some cases though you should keep in mind that calories, particularly when it comes to candy you eat unconsciously add up quickly and you must pay close attention to those things you put into your mouth.

My point in all this though is that you do not have to sacrifice flavor in order to diet. You can live without butter; there are many substitutions on the market that are quite remarkable. But seasonings are a great way to add a lot of flavor for a tiny bit of effort on your part. Desserts are also great and you can find many dips and sauces that can be made with fat free or low fat mayonnaise or sour cream in order to cut a few more calories during your dieting process.

These dips and sauces can often make a great substitution, when paired with vegetables, for those chips and dips we love so much and often miss when dieting. Cucumbers, green, red, and yellow peppers, broccoli, and carrot sticks all have a nice little crunch to them that when combined with a good low fat dip can help cure the crave beast for greasy chips that often rears its head when dieting.

If you watch your calories carefully during meals you should be delighted to know that there are many little snack treats that are prepackaged in 100 calorie packs for your enjoyment. This means that you can indulge on occasion in those treats that you love most without sacrificing all your dieting efforts in the process. These snack packs have become one of the best marketing ploys since the invention of diet colas. We all want the benefits of losing weight and will readily admit that if it were a simple process we'd all be thin. However, having something like these hundred calorie snack packs to carry you through the worst of your cravings can mean the difference between dieting success and failure. They are definitely the difference in the old way of dieting and the new way of dieting without sacrificing flavor.

Abdominoplasty the tummy tuck

Abdominoplasty, or a “tummy tuck,” is a cosmetic surgery designed to correct a protruding abdomen that may result from weak abdominal muscles, weight gain, or pregnancy. These conditions may not respond well to diet or exercise if the skin and underlying muscles have been stretched, which makes this surgery possibly a necessity for someone who wants a decent shape back.

With a tummy tuck, the abdominal wall muscles are tightened and excess fatty tissue and skin are removed to improve the body’s shape and appearance. The goal is a narrower, flatter abdomen. Realistic expectations are important, and contrary to some beliefs, a tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss. Dieters should hit their ideal weight before going in for this procedure, and a woman who plans to become pregnant again in the future should wait until she’s finished having new children, otherwise this surgery may just be a waste of money.

Antibiotics will be prescribed prior to surgery to prevent infection. To minimize the possibility of excess bleeding, you will need to avoid taking drugs containing aspirin. You will also be advised to bathe with an antiseptic soap for several days prior to surgery. Abdominoplasty is performed using general anesthesia. Some doctors may give you medication beforehand to help you feel relaxed. Surgeries generally take anywhere from 2-5 hours, depending on the patient’s health and condition. Recovery time also varies greatly.

Some swelling and discomfort is normal after surgery, and general pain pills will help to get through this more comfortable. The doctor will provide the instructions you need for changing bandages, showering, and general care. As with any other medical surgery, it is always important to follow the doctor’s orders. The scars take time to fade, but they will fade over time. This is the cosmetic surgery that may take the most recovery time, but to someone who has been plagued by a “fat gut” despite doing everything right know how rewarding this procedure can be for them. A good diet and normal exercise routine after the surgery (and recovery time) will be of great benefit.

Article on poverty 03

There are many touchy issues and subjects in our society. Anything from abortion, to euthanasia, to mental illness, to disease are spoken about regularly in the media. However, one of the largest issues doesn't seem to come up as much. I'm talking about poverty. This is a major concern in the world we currently live in. I definitely think it deserves plenty of attention. I think it's one of those topics that make people uncomfortable; therefore they struggle to avoid it. Typically those who suffer from poverty are embarrassed by the fact, while the rich folks strive to act like it doesn't exist. This is called the easy way out. Just pretend it's not there. Hopefully it will go away or stay suppressed somewhere. Yeah, not likely to happen. Have you read a recent article on poverty lately? It's not really improving. Maybe everyone should just wake up.

What comes to mind when you hear the word "capital?" For me it's our household income. I usually ponder the money my wife and I bring in to pay the bills and stay afloat. I would assume many individuals think the same thing, or at least somewhere in that vicinity. Now, what about the notion of "poverty?" This probably stirs different thoughts. I know that it does with me. My mind usually refers back to those commercials you see on television. You know the ones that depict the hungry children with no homes, and someone telling you what 10 cents a day could do. It's depressing to say the least. However, whenever my father would see these, he would always say "We need to take care of the poverty-stricken families in our country first." I guess that makes sense. After reviewing an article on poverty in America, there is definitely problem at-hand. I can't dispute that. So, what about the financially endowed? I mean come on; there are folks out there who truly need to read an article on poverty. Look at Donald Trump and Bill Gates. Instead of hording all that cash; why not give half to charity? They'd still be rich and they will have helped so many. Makes sense to me.

If you're looking for a current article on poverty, you won't have to search far. These babies are a dime a dozen. Hop on the web and take a surf. Check out what's going on right under your nose. That article on poverty may just change your life.

Forex in a crash nutshell article

Copyright 2006 Sam Beatson

The Forex or foreign exchange is also known as FX, and can be traded upon by anyone from home who has an internet connection and some knowledge.

The great thing about being a beginner to forex trading is you can trade using "monopoly" money if you want to.

Most people have the belief that trading currency is extremely risky and a gamble. However there are many ways to technically analyse the market and identify the pattern of the movement to the point we can instigate "good" trades on a consistent basis.

So, how would you like a change of direction. For example, imagine if in two weeks from now you were confident enough and skilled enough to place trades on a daily basis which give you a consistent yield of $200-500 per day.

It's very possible with the correct training. There is a high risk involved though, it's true. If you don't have as much covered as possible with regard to the basis of your decision to trade. If your psychology is not right, you won't stand a chance.

The forex never sleeps. 24 hours per day from sunrise in Australia through to sundown in New York, banks and retail investors trade. Banks in the multimillions.

It must be said, take your time to learn about the forex and what you should do before diving in with a LIVE account and blasting away capital like your on drugs. You can do it. But do it right.

Currency is traded in pairs. That means, as you buy one currency you automatically sell the other currency in the pair. Examples of pairs are the EUR/USD or the Euro against the US dollar, GBP/USD or 'cable' or 'pound dollar' because there used to be a cable relaying info under the ocean from Europe to US. Another example is the USD/CHF or the dollar against the swiss franc - 'dollar-swiss' or even 'swissy'.

The left hand currency is known as the base currency and the quoted price is always how much of the right hand currency can be exchanged for 1 unit of the base currency or vice versa.

So for example a quote of 1.6452 on the GBP/USD means for every 1 pound you sell you get 1.6452 US dollars. Similarly if you were to buy the pound, the rate is 1.6452USD to the pound.

Currency is traded in lots, multiples of lots or for the retail investor sometimes, in fractions of lots. One lot is equal to 100,000 units of the base currency in a pair.

In the above example, buying 1 lot on the GBP/USD means you are buying 100,000pounds and automatically selling 164,520USD.

Profits are made on the forex market much like in any business, but with a twist. You can aim to buy and then sell at a higher price. For example you buy your 100,000GBP automatically selling 164,520USD at the rate 1.6452 and the price quoted rises to 1.6587.

You then close your position on the market which means you are doing the reverse really. You have made a profit of 35 pips or points because the price has moved up 35 pips or points [the last 2 decimal places]. The 'big figure' is the 2 numbers after the decimal point generally.

Buying and selling at a higher price can be likened to traditional business in that you buy wholesale or cheaper and sell for a profit. Being in a position that you want or predict will rise is called long position.

The twist in forex is short-selling or being able to sell and then buy back at a cheaper price for profit. The reverse scenario applies. You sell when your training tells you the price is going to fall. You can then close after a price lowering of however-many pips.

The above looks like big-numbers, however with a leveraged account, you can trade with a 100:1 leverage, meaning you only need a margin deposit 1/100th the size of the amount of currency you want to control, ie $1-2000 will give you enough leverage to control 100,000 dollars of currency.

This makes profits high, also potential losses. For a 100:1 account trading GBP/USD or EUR/USD, each pip movement is worth $10. Therefore, in the above example fo a long position, you would have earned $350 for your one trade. It might have taken a few minutes, it might have taken a few hours.

Where to buy a treadmill

Buying a treadmill? Chances are you'll want to comparison shop to find the best deal for you. Looking at all of the options available can often save you hundreds of dollars.

But where can you look?

There are in general 3 places you can buy your tread mill. This article will outline what you should know about each. You'll learn the advantages and disadvantages - to help you find the best treadmill buy.

#1 Department Stores

Department stores like Walmart, Sears, and Target sell a variety of name brand treadmills in their sports and fitness departments.

What you should know: Although these stores may appear to offer several different brand names they are almost always produced by one manufacturer - Icon Health and Fitness.

Icon is one of the largest treadmill manufacturers on the market today and produces such brands as Proform, Weslo, Epic, Image, Nordic Track, Free Spirit and Reebok.

These treadmills have lots of neat gadgets like CD players, TV's, iFit compatibility and more. However, they are not necessarily known for high quality cushioning, stability or durability.

They also typically offer short warranties. For many of the cheaper treadmills, 90 days on parts and labor is all you get. If you want a longer warranty you'll have to pay extra for it.

Salespeople at these department stores are often not very knowledgeable about treadmills, fitness or how to choose the right treadmill based on your personal needs. So if you need to buy from a department store make sure you do your homework before you go.

Also, at a department store, you'll usually have to pay extra for shipping and delivery of your treadmill (around $150 - $200) so that's also an extra cost to consider.

#2 Specialty Sports and Fitness Stores

These are stores like Fitness Depot, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sport Chalet etc.

What you should know: These stores typically offer you higher end treadmill brands like Precor, Landice, Trimline, Star Trac, Keys and more.

You technically get a larger selection at these stores because the treadmill brands are made by more than 1 giant treadmill manufacturing company.

Sales people are typically more knowledgeable at these stores and can tell you more about the treadmill models, what you need, etc. However be careful as these salespeople are often on commission and may try to pressure you into buying a higher priced machine than you actually need.

You'll also typically have to pay for shipping and delivery of your treadmill when you buy at one of these stores (which could cost you $150-200 depending on the size of your treadmill). However if you hit these stores on a sale, you may be able to get a discount or free shipping.

#3 Online - Direct From the Manufacturer

Buying a treadmill online is an option that is growing in popularity with buyers. There are both online fitness stores and online treadmill manufacturers.

What you should know: Online manufacturers sell direct to the consumer, in effect skipping the middleman of the store. Consequently customers can save up to $800 on a brand name treadmill.

Buying online is also easy and convenient since you can research treadmill brands and prices from the comfort of your living room. You have a much larger selection of treadmill brands than either option above and can thus make a better buying decision.

Another bonus is that online distributors typically offer free shipping which can also save you a couple hundred dollars. There are no pushy salespeople to deal with so you can take your time to decide without any pressure.

The downside of buying a treadmill online is that you don't get to walk on the treadmill first. Many people get around this by trying them out at stores first and then buying the treadmill online (if possible).

Or you could do the research and invest in a high end treadmill brand with high ratings from experts and users. (Several treadmill websites will list any expert awards or user reviews for you to read.)

So those are 3 main places to buy your treadmill. Regardless of where you buy your tread mill, remember to take your time, have fun and consider your own personal workout needs before buying.

Look like you re eternally young with japanese skin care

The image of the Japanese girl, despite or because of animй, is easily among those things that a number of men find powerfully appealing. The look isn't something everyone goes for, but a sizable enough portion of the population has found interest in it. It helps that, for some reason inexplicable to all but the Japanese (and, to some extent, the Chinese and the Koreans), the women in that part of the world never seem to age properly. That is, thanks to Japanese skin care secrets, even a woman well into her mid-forties looks a little too much like a woman who's only in her early or mid-twenties. Even more startling to observers is just how little involvement plastic surgery and expensive cosmetics have in Japanese skin care and beauty maintenance. Just how do the Japanese manage to keep even middle-aged women looking like teenagers?

Most analysts would like to point out that Japanese skin care and beauty maintenance is remarkably different from other areas. Closer inspection reveals a number of similarities and parallels to Chinese beauty secrets (because just about anything in Japanese culture has some sort of loose parallel to Chinese culture somewhere), but the differences still stand out. Most reputable authorities point out that it is likely that the standard Japanese diet forms the core of their ancient secrets.

Even with the arrival and success of big chains such as KFC and McDonald's, traditional food still makes up the bulk of the average meal. Most Japanese, in a recent survey, revealed that the occasional “Big Mac” was good for a treat, but bowls of ramen or a few rounds of sushi were still preferred as regular meals. The diet, on most levels is much simpler and, culturally, great emphasis is placed on preparing food such that it retains as much of its natural state as possible. This usually translates to less chemicals being used in the cooking process, which is something Western diets have large quantities of.

Reports also indicate that Japanese skin care regimens tend to use a wide variety of natural herbs, rather than relying on chemical treatments. There are numerous herbs that naturally occur in Japan that help fight off the negative effects caused by the various adverse weather conditions that the skin has to endure. They also help fight off all the pollutants and skin irritants that fly around, thanks to the highly industrialized nature of the country's urban infrastructure.

Cosmetics in Japan also lend to the apparent ease that women who employ Japanese skin care techniques enjoy. Chemically speaking, Japanese cosmetics are much “lighter” than their Western counterparts. Most Japanese-made cosmetics rely more on essential oils and components derived from herbal treatments than anything else, with some products having firm basis in food. They also do away with some potentially damaging chemicals by insisting that everything be free of any scent. It is a poorly recognized fact that adding scent to make-up can sometimes cause problems in long-term skin care. The focus on natural products and compatibility with even the most sensitive skin conditions is often combined with products that have a stimulating effect on the skin, making it appear more vibrant and young.

As stated, Chinese and Japanese beauty secrets are very similar to one another in principle, if not in tactics. Both cultures have honed their skin care and beauty management secrets to keep their people looking as fresh and as young as possible for as long as possible. Both sides have managed to succeed in that endeavor, though factors in the Japanese diet appear to have given the Japanese the edge in terms of maintaining that “porcelain doll look” much longer than their Chinese counterparts.

The three stages of debt consolidation loans

If you are experiencing debt problems then one solution may be to take out a debt consolidation loan to sort yourself out. Getting into a spiral of debt doesn’t just affect your finances – it can be a stressful experience that can also affect your health and mental well-being. So, it makes sense to take action as soon as you can before the situation gets completely out of hand.

If your debts are worrying you – and remember, you don’t have to owe a whole lot of money to have debt problems – then there are three basic stages to debt consolidation that can help you make the right decision on what to do. Let’s take a look at your options.

Stage One – Decide what you want

It doesn’t matter how big or small your existing debts are – if they are a worry to you then debt consolidation loans could provide you with the right kind of solution. So, are your debts so bad that you need this kind of loan?

The first thing you need to do is to work out how bad your financial situation is. If, for example, you spend most of your monthly income on repaying your debts leaving you with little or no cash spare to live on every month then you may well need to look at this kind of solution.

The problem with many debts nowadays is that most of us end up borrowing money on products such as credit cards and overdrafts. So, every month you may find that you are simply repaying the minimum sum allowed whilst high rates of interest are added to your initial borrowings. All too soon you can find that you aren’t making any headway at all to repay what you owe as more is added to it every month even if you have curbed your spending. So, you may find that you have to borrow more to even make the minimum payments which will only make the situation worse. If this scenario sounds familiar to you then a debt consolidation loan could be the answer to your prayers.

Stage Two – Look at what debt consolidation can do for your finances

The key advantage to a debt consolidation loan is that it will repay your existing debts for you. You’ll still have to repay this loan but it’ll cost you less and it will get you out of the spiral of debt increases. This kind of loan is usually a standard personal loan so the interest rate advantages you’ll get are huge. Personal loans have far lower interest rates than products such as credit cards, for example. So, you’ll have to spend less on debt repayment every month and less overall to repay your borrowings.

Plus, this kind of loan will give you just one monthly payment which can be set at a fixed rate so you will know exactly where you stand. If you have any doubts about what this kind of loan will do for you then do a bit of research first before you make a decision. Work out how much you currently pay every month on repaying your debts – then, if you log on to a specialist website such as www. uk-consolidation-loans. co. uk you can see how much a debt consolidation loan will suit you. And, you’ll get the instant peace of mind of knowing that your debts will be repaid at the end of the loan. There really is an end in sight here!

Stage Three – Get the best deal

Debt consolidation loans can come in various forms. If you prefer you can take out a specialist loan or simply opt for a standard personal loan. If you’re a homeowner you can opt for a secured loan or if you prefer or you don’t own your own property, then you can use an unsecured option. In any case, the key thing to remember is that you want a reputable lender with the best deal possible. It’s vital to keep the interest rates you get for your loan as low as possible to make sure that you pay back as little as possible over time.

The easiest way to do this is to shop around. In today’s Internet focused world you don’t have to do this yourself – there are many specialist sites that can help you find great rates and deals.

For many of us a debt consolidation loan can be the first step we take on the road to a debt free life. With this in mind it’s a solution worth looking at no matter what level of debt you currently have.

Elements to look for in a free photo shop tutorial

After purchasing Photo Shop software, it is but natural to be excited to learn more about how you can take advantage of this popular graphic editor. Despite the availability of a basic tutorial on the mechanics of using Photo Shop in the CD software, you most likely would want to have more advanced and technical understanding of the product. After seeing enhanced pictures and creative crafts made by such software on the Internet or from the collection of your friends and family, you will probably want to immediately be able to have the necessary skills to do more advanced media formats and digital files using that software.

You really do not have to spend a penny for a more in-depth Photo Shop tutorial. There are many websites on the Internet that provides several downloadable files that will help teach you the nitty-gritty of the software. However, it can be a daunting task to check each and every website that you encounter on the Net that has a free tutorial for the said software.

Moreover, not all existing information on the World Wide Web is reliable. You might find some website that are wanting and does not provide appropriate data. Therefore, you need to check the files that you are going to download and use. Below are some important things you need to know in choosing the suitable Photo Shop tutorial for you:

Check the source

As mentioned earlier, not all data that is available on the World Wide Web is reliable. Thus, you must carefully check the source that you are going to use. Although you are not paying anything for the tutorial, you would not want to waste time and resources in downloading files that are not complete and correct. Thus, you will save much time if you check the source first and the credibility of the website that you are going to use to learn more about how to fully take advantage of the graphic editor tool you just bought.

Easy to understand

If the free Photo Shop tutorial that you find on the World Wide Web uses computer or technical jargon, you might not able to learn much from it, especially if your knowledge on computers and the software is just limited. It is wise to stick to tutorials that use conversational tones and easy to understand vocabulary. Moreover, a document or lesson that is too technical might sound boring.

Suitable to your knowledge level of the product

It is best to start your tutorial from the very basic to the more advanced. Start looking for a document that teaches you the fundamentals of the software first, before you go on more technical and complicated matters. On the other hand, if you already have a good grasp of Photo Shop, it would be just a waste of time if you still undergo the basic training.

For those who have specific problems or would want to know about certain topics, you will find some websites that provide tutorial per action or topic. For example, if you want to learn more about retouching photographs, you could just access the files that are about how to use retouch tools.

Provides examples or screen shots

For people who do not know computer terms, it would better if the free Photo Shop tutorial that they will use have screen shots that will help learners of the software what icons they need access and where it is located.

Acupunture points map

Practitioners of the ancient Chinese art of acupuncture rely on the acupuncture points map to free trapped energy in the body and restore health.

You might have spotted this type of chart of the human body on the wall of your holistic doctor’s office or during a visit to a natural health store. It depicts numerous points on the body where the body’s energy, also known as qi, often accumulates. In fact, there are over 2,000 points that conduct energy throughout the body!

Because of their direct connection to the flow of energy in the body, the acupuncture pressure points depicted on the acupuncture points map help to regulate body function, mood, emotional and spiritual well-being. You might find it surprising that acupuncture has been used for over two millennia to help relieve headaches, skin conditions, digestive disorders, and asthma. And, that’s just the beginning. Acupuncture has been known to help with depression, phobias, addictions, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and other ailments caused by energy imbalances in the body.

The traditional acupuncture points chart shows fourteen main channels, also known as meridians, which exist in the body – one meridian for each of the twelve organs, one along the spine and another along the abdomen. Acupuncture pressure points are located along these meridians, and some points have more than one function. This means that an acupuncturist might use them to cure more than one type of illness.

For example, there is a commonly-used point on the acupuncture points chart, which is located on the back side of the hand between the thumb and first finger. Acupuncturists use it mainly to relieve pain and to treat constipation or other intestinal disorders. This point, however, is also used to treat illnesses which cause inflammation and fever. Because the large intestine meridian runs from the hand to the face, these symptoms often manifest in the throat and head.

Another point on the acupuncture points map is located at the base of the skull along the gallbladder meridian. This is a valuable point to know around cold and flu season, because it helps treat these annoying illnesses. It also helps relieve headaches, neck pain, and fever. Additionally, it may also lower blood pressure and relax tension in the region around the eyes. There are a multitude of points that may hold the key to better health for you.

How does an acupuncturist use these points on an acupuncture points map? He or she utilizes small needles and places them at the specific point on the patient’s body to help relieve illnesses caused by disrupted energy flow. By manipulating the flow of qi at these points, the two forms of energy in the body, yin and yang, are brought into proper alignment. It may require several visits to your acupuncturist to bring your body’s energy into harmony.

Encouraging the proper flow of life energy at specific acupuncture pressure points will help bring your body into physical and emotional harmony, in addition to proper diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle choices. Visit a licensed acupuncturist who has studied the acupuncture points map in detail to ensure a beneficial session.

Can the fed stop the bleeding

Surely “they” wouldn’t let the worst happen, would they?

The “subprime” debacle in the last few weeks seemed to come from nowhere to suddenly infuse panic into financial markets from stocks to mortgages to hedge funds to banks to precious metals to consumer spending. Of course, as I have explained in my newsletters and daily updates (and in my book), it did not come from nowhere at all. Blind Freddy should have seen it coming. Nor was it sudden. It took a lot longer to happen than I ever imagined.

As at the date of writing (August 18), central banks around the world (the European ECB panicking the most) have tipped hundreds of billions of dollars into “the system” to try and combat the sudden fear of and thus freeze on lending, even from one bank to another. And now the Federal Reserve has lowered its “discount rate,” which is the desperado last resort that banks can turn to for loans if there is nowhere else, by 0.5%. Will this work? Will this stop the hemorrhaging in the credit markets which threatened to send mortgage rates through the roof and stock and other financial markets into a dive, not to mention the economy?

In a word, NO!

There is a mistaken belief, which is very widespread, that “they” (which usually means governments and/or central banks) can take whatever action is necessary to stave off any monetary or economic disaster that threatens. The belief (hope) is that we could never have another 1930s style depression because we have so many “safety nets” in place and authorities are so much wiser and the global economy is so much stronger than it was 75 years ago and technology advances, China, India, blah, blah, blah.

That is all nonsense! And very few people who believe that pipe dream can back it up with any facts, figures or even any historic evidence or economic fundamentals.

Before I explain why “they” cannot stop an out-of-control speeding locomotive, let’s look at a couple of recent examples that demonstrate just how powerless governments and central banks are in the face of a stampeding herd once the public mood turns sour.

Example 1

At the beginning of the 1990s, against all odds, first the Japanese stock market, then the property market in Japan, then the Japanese economy, went into freefall, and were to remain at or near the bottom of the abyss until this day. Share and property markets fell 80% and the Japanese economy has been in virtual permanent recession, if not depression, accompanied, notably, by deflation, for the better part of two decades. How this could happen, when in 1990 Japan was the post-war “modern-day economic miracle of the world” (like China today, take note) is another story that I have not only written about but strongly predicted back in 1989. The important thing here is how powerless “they” proved to be in trying to not only prevent it, but to fix it once it broke.

The Bank of Japan lowered interest rates to zero. The Japanese government spent trillions of yen on (mostly useless) infrastructure. Did they succeed in getting the economy moving? No. Did they succeed in getting people to spend again? No. Why?

Example 2

Immediately after Thanksgiving Day 2000 the US economy “hit the brick wall.” It was like magic. As if overnight the public just stopped spending. No-one noticed that this happened nine months after the stock market started falling, but that too is another subject.

The point is that the then chairman of the Fed, Alan Greenspan, panicked. On January 3, 2001 the Federal Reserve dropped short term interest rates by 0.5%. The effect was immediate. The S&P 500 spiked up 5% in one day. Yee-hah! The Fed won!

Did it? Over the next 18 months the Fed lowered interest rates a further twelve times in a row, not stopping until the Fed Funds rate got to 1%. Wow, that must have sent the stock market soaring. How much did it rise? The S&P 500 FELL 44%! Why?

The reason is that governments and central banks are followers, not leaders. Any action they take will have at best a temporary effect and any short term “reaction” by the public will always be fully reversed. At worst it will invariably add to the debt mountain which was the underlying fundamental cause of the problem in the first place.

Why is this? Socionomists know the answer. The most powerful force on this earth is the living, seething mass of humanity that moves backwards and forwards, up and down, like the waves in the ocean. Periods of optimism produce growth. But like the worm that has to pull back before he can move any further forward, these periods of progression must be interrupted by periods of regression (backwards). There is nothing that central banks or governments can do about it. And our flawed money system only exacerbates the problem.

The remarkable thing is that collective human behavior has a pattern to it. Mainstream economists ignore this patterning and thus have a wonderful record of getting it wrong. They did not even label the last Great Depression as such until 1933, four years too late to save people from financial ruin. They cannot see this one coming either.

The title of my book is "How to Profit from the Coming Great Depression". Focus on the first three words and you may realise it is not a pessimistic tome. Read that and you will understand what I am talking about.

I reiterate that central bank intervention will not prevent the catastrophe that will flow from the “subprime mortgage crisis,” no matter what form it takes. Subprime is only one symptom of the underlying cause. Only the Wave Principle can explain that real cause.

(These comments are based on my daily update for Monday August 20, 2007).

Happy wave watching

The secret to obtaining a bad credit student loan

It won't be easy, and you can bet that your search to find someone willing to offer you a bad credit student loan will take some doing, but with determination, you're likely to find someone willing to take a chance on you and fund your tuition expenses for another year or two.

However, be advised that if you already have accumulated bad credit, you're most likely going to only find loans that come with high interest rates attached. The good news is that you won't have to start paying back that student loan until you're finished with school, so you can start planning early to repay it. One of the mistakes most students make is to ignore the fact that sooner or later, they're going to have to start paying back the hundreds, thousands, and sometimes, hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans that have accrued over the course of college and university studies. Most students don't even consider those loans until that first billing statement comes, sometimes weeks or several months after you've received that hard-earned diploma.

If you already have a bad credit history, it will be in your best interest to start putting money away during the course of your college education in an effort to repay those loans once you're finished with studies, and to be able to show any banker or money lender that you already have such a strategy in place. You will not likely find your school willing to finance you a loan if you already have a bad credit history, and maybe not even your local bank branch, either. A bad credit student loan may also depend on whether or not you have collateral to secure such a loan. If you don't, you'll be offered an unsecured loan, which automatically comes with higher interest rates. While you may shrug at the difference between a few points of interest, those few points may mean thousands of dollars by the time you've finished repaying those loans.

Always shop around when it comes to seeking any kind of student loan, and if you have bad credit, it's vitally important to tread cautiously and slowly. Take your time, never sign on the dotted line without thinking about terms offered for at least 24 hours, and never, ever let someone tell you that you have to decide right there and then or the deal is rescinded. Many moneylenders prey on those with a bad credit history, so you have to be alert and know a few basic terms when searching for a loan under those conditions. When applying for a bad credit loan, look around for those lenders who offer the best rates. You need to accept that you may be asked to pay 18-24% interest on any loan amount, which will certainly mean thousands of extra dollars. Loan services are designed to help others, but not for altruistic reasons. Everyone's out to make a dollar, and lenders are no different. They may come in handy at the time, but keep in mind that any money owed is a debt that must be repaid - somehow, sooner or later.

Quail hunting

Quail Hunting

Quail hunting is one of the top sports for those on the upper crust of society. It is considered the top game or hunt of the aristocracy and is practiced by vice presidents and world leaders to this day. Quail hunting is typically considered this way because it demands a lot less of the hunter in comparison to other hunts. It does not take place in the morning, for example, or in the shivering cold. Instead, quail hunting can be done in relative comfort and can actually be quite stylish. For this reason, many people in the upper class of society try quail hunting.

Quail hunting typically involves two hunters and a pair of dogs, typically called bird dogs. These dogs chase down the quail and retrieve the bird after the kill has been made. Often times, quail hunts are attended by spectators and watchers. There can be large crowds at quail hunts, gathering to watch the majesty of the sport unfold before their very eyes. There is something surreal and beautiful about quail hunting and watching the bird dogs do their work, making it one of the most interesting human experiences to be had.

Proper gear is recommended when quail hunting. This includes having the proper boots for the fields and the marshlands. The right pants are also required, preferably pants that are called “brush pants” because they are of a color that matches the color of the brush. These pants also work to prevent thorns and briars from penetrating the pants, which is a common downfall to hunting quail in the brushes of North America. It is also recommended that the hunter wears a proper vest or a coat so that ammunition and other immediate supplies can be stored in it. The best option is something of a bright color so that the hunters will be obvious in the field and not confused with the quail.

There is a certain formation and strategy to quail hunting that is very important. First, the dogs are sent to flush out the birds. As this is happening, the hunters are preparing their guns to be mounted on their shoulders. The safety of the gun should be kept on at all times until the gun is ready to be fired and mounted on the shoulder of the hunter. The gun barrels should be pointed to the sky, towards the prey, and away from any other hunter or from the ground. The two hunters should then follow the line of the dogs and maintain a straight line themselves, one hunter after the other. This formation is very important because of safety issues. The reasoning behind the straight line formation is to keep the hunters away from firing unpredictably upon one another's personal space.

Each hunter should have a mental note of where the other hunter is. The dogs should also be noted. This is to identify locations as to where the hunter should not point or swing his or her firearm. This should be also a way to divide the field up into sides. One side belongs to one hunter and so on. Once the sides are determined, the dogs will flush the quail into the air and the shooting begins. Hunters should stick to firing on their side of the range, so as to avoid danger and poor form.

It should also be noted that low flying quail should be avoided at all costs. This is not only dangerous, but it has led to the unfortunate demise of many bird dogs because of the low shots. Keeping the guns high during a quail hunt is of vital importance so as to protect all of those involved in the hunt.

With these safety precautions and gun etiquette tips in mind, quail hunting should be a remarkable and fun sporting event to take in. Bring some friends and get set for a lovely day in a field with the dogs. Quail hunting can be a peaceful time as well, leading to plenty of reflection and quiet in the middle of America's most beautiful marshlands.

Diabetes today the disturbing truth

Diabetes is the fifth-deadliest disease. Since 1987 the death rate has increased 45 percent. In 2002; diabetes claimed an astonishing 224,092 lives in the United States alone. It is believed that the number was actually higher since most deaths of the elderly had multiple chronic conditions associated with their death including diabetes. Many people do not know that they have diabetes until they develop other life threatening conditions such as, heart disease, high blood pressure, blindness, kidney damage, nervous system damage, dental disease, sexual dysfunction, and a number of other complications. When you have diabetes the above complication are side illnesses, diabetes is this root of all of your medical problems and must be under control for you to recover from the side illnesses period! Being checked by your physician on a regular basis is absolutely necessary for your overall quality of life. If you do not know that you have diabetes, there is no other way of knowing that you have this deadly disease without a check up.

There are several different types of diabetes such as, type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 is the body's inability to produce insulin, people with type 1 are insulin dependent for the remainder of their lives, and they must also keep close track of their diets. Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes; diabetes is a chronic disease and has no cure. While an estimated 14 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes it is also estimated that close to 6.2 million are unaware that they have this deadly disease. In 2005 1.5 million new cases were diagnosed in people age 20 and above. If this dangerous trend continues it is believed that 1 in 3 Americans will develop diabetes in their lifetime. It is also estimated that 41 million Americans have pre-diabetes today.

Pre-diabetes is a dangerous condition in itself, this is when the glucose level in the blood is not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes yet damage is being done to your internal organs. The body can not handle any unsafe level of sugar or glucose in the blood for any extended period of time.

Diabetes is the body's inability to use the sugar called glucose. Glucose is created when the body breaks down food for energy. The hormone insulin opens up the cells in the body to allow glucose to enter into the cell and be used as fuel. In diabetes the cell never opens up and the glucose flows through the blood stream causing high blood sugar levels. With diabetes the body either dose not make enough insulin or is resistant to its own natural insulin. High blood sugar can lead to very serious complications. Heart disease is the leading cause of premature death in people with diabetes. Diabetes is the major cause of leg and foot amputations in Americans today. Infections are much harder to control in people with diabetes, they are at greater risk of complications and death due to infection. The high risk factors leading to type 2 diabetes is too much body fat and high sugar intake!

Diabetes is on the rise; Americans are eating poorly and are lacking physical activity and this is starting to really show in the children of America.

Free-radicals are very active in a person with diabetes. They attack a number of cells at once because diabetes causes an abnormal immune function due to high glucose levels in the blood and organs. Free-radicals are the reason you see so many different complications or side illnesses in this disease. Free-radicals are molecules or atoms that are missing an electron, free-radicals attack healthy cells trying to steal an electron from them. Chronic inflammation is also a major player with this disease and in the side illnesses. Chronic inflammation is being called the silent killer by doctors and scientists. All of the above diseases need medications to help regulate the disease, but you need to know this, medications cause free-radical damage, and this damage is called side effects. All medications can cause side effects. So eating properly to help your condition is absolutely essential for your life.

Think of free-radicals as a school of piranha, they feed on everything in sight, they are not picky eaters. Free-radicals cause healthy cells to become mutated or deformed and they attack any cell they come in contact with. Now if they do manage to steal an electron then that once healthy cell, in turn, becomes a free-radical doing what was done to it. This is a vicious cycle, basically there is a war going on inside your body. You can not see or feel this war but it is there, and one day it will show its ugly head in the form of a serious disease or illness. You must be on the defensive and feed your body what it needs in order to combat these little piranhas.

Inflammation is a bully, after the free-radicals have done the damage the inflammation is sent by the body to help heal but it is unable to heal mutations and deformities so the deformed or mutated cells begin to feed on the healthy inflammation cells. Now the inflammation cells are deformed or mutated and become chronic inflammation cells, the chronic inflammation cells begin attacking your healthy tissues and cells.

You have the power to take your health into your own hands and put a stop to the damage now. As we know anti-oxidants help the body fight against free-radicals, anti-oxidants are molecules or atoms that has an extra electron. It gives this extra electron away and in turn the free-radicals stop attacking healthy cells. Science has proven that ALL diseases and illnesses are caused by free-radical damage and the vast majority have chronic inflammation as their side kick. There are risk factors for all diseases but free-radicals and chronic inflammation are the source and cause of major complications. Free-radicals can not be avoided; they are in air and water pollution, in the junk foods we eat, and caused by traumas and injuries. Free-radicals are a part of life; they even affect the aging process itself.

Anti-oxidants are essential for health, plants contain about 1,000 to 1,500 anti-oxidants, a diet of fruits and vegetables is essential, supplements are key, vitamins and minerals contain high numbers of anti-oxidants. You need to do some research and try to find fresh supplements; they tend to lose their potency the longer they sit on the self.

Anyone with diabetes or even pre-diabetes must re-think their diets, moving towards fresh and properly cooked foods, stay away from fast foods and anything with high sugar content. Taking in a large number of anti-oxidants everyday, is essential to help your body recover and maintain better overall health. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise, as long as you begin now. Pre-diabetes can be reversed.

There are also super charged, super powerful anti-oxidants in nature called Xanthones. Xanthones have the power to defeat a larger number of free-radicals at one time, due to strong carbon bonds that make the molecule stable. Each Xanthone performs a specific biological function inside the body unlike regular anti-oxidants. Universities and scientists have been studying xanthones for over 20 years. Scientists have found that xanthones are able to relieve a variety of problems and also help in the improvement of serious conditions. This is the reason that more and more universities and scientists are becoming involved in the research on these amazing xanthones. Two hundred xanthones have been identified in nature, and 41 are in the mangosteen fruit alone, you can compare that to the Aloe Vera plant that contains only one xanthone. The mangosteen fruit also contains 25,000 anti-oxidants. How can that help your health? The mangosteen fruit has the highest number of anti-oxidants and xanthones ever found in one source. One thing about xanthones you need to know is that they must be consumed in their natural form. For more information on xanthones you can call toll free 1-888-374-4148 and listen to a message about the mangosteen fruit juice and its powerful medicinal abilities.

People with diabetes are ruled by their medications and checking their blood everyday, they must see their doctor on a regular basis in order to keep their blood sugars under control by adjusting their medication. If their sugar goes too far up or too far down, massive damage to the internal organs and tissues is done and even the brain is affected, and can cause comma. This is a very deadly disease, but with the right food intake it dose not have to be, take care of your self.

Retail store u scan machines self serve or voluntary part time job

Do many of us realize that we are working an unpaid part time job for the grocery stores and some home appliance stores? We are ringing up our own goods, are not getting any price discount for doing so and are saving these retailers money.

Each self-serve lane contains two to three self-serve scanners. Retailers have an average of two to four self-serve lanes. Retailers are saving each store an average of four to eight cashiers’ salaries per store. One attendant is assigned to these self-service machines. Hypothetically, if stores are paying full time cashiers $7 per hour, they are now saving $14,000 annually in wage expenses for each cashier that they do not have to hire. Multiplied by four to eight cashiers, each store saves $56,000 to $112,000 per year on wage expenses. This simple calculation does not even count other benefits that companies pay to their cashiers, such as healthcare, vacation pay, sick pay, 401(k), pension benefits and tuition assistance.

Are these savings passed on to the consumer? Nope!

Why should we work an unpaid part time job for the grocery industry?

1. Self-serve scanning machines are not always user-friendly

When grocery bags get filled up and you have nowhere else to put your groceries, the machine will say something like “Please place your item back in bag” and not even let you know what the problem is. The machine treats you like you’re an imbecile. The machine is wasting your time while an attendant has to correct the problem.

2. Self-serve scanning machines do not always scan every bar code.

Some of the machines do not scan deposit bottle return slips, which requires an attendant to manually scan the deposit slips. If there is other merchandise that the machine will not scan, an attendant also has to manually override the system, which is consuming more time for the customer.

3. Self-serve scanners cannot correct price variations.

If an item should scan at a certain price, but the store’s system scans the item at a different price, an attendant has to manually override the scanner to give the consumer the correct price.

4. Risks of alienating senior citizens

If self-scanners are challenging for younger people, imagine how intimidating the machines must be for seniors. Sometimes, perception and not reality can dictate a retailer’s success. If seniors perceive that cashier-scanning is going to be phased out by self-scanning, seniors may take their business where the human touch is still being utilized.

5. Gas stations offer a price break for self-serve

Although full-serve gas stations are becoming more rare, those stations that still offer full-service and self-service combinations offer price breaks to those customers who pump their own gasoline. If gas stations can offer a price break to customers who pump their own gasoline, why can’t grocery stores offer a price break to customers who ring up their own goods?

6. Impersonal aspect could dissuade customers

Many customers go to the same store, restaurant or tavern because people who work at the establishment remember them. Remember “Norm” from Cheers? They want to go “where everybody knows their name…” A U-Scan Machine is not going to know you from Adam.

7. Self-scanning is currently not set up to handle large amounts of goods.

Currently, U-Scan machines are set up to handle about fifteen items or less, which is fine with the light shopper. What happens with customers who are purchasing over fifteen items? Are the larger-quantity purchasers being rewarded by not having to scan their own goods? Why do shoppers with fifteen items or less have the opportunity to do voluntary part time work for retailers? Is it a case of if customers purchase enough groceries, they don’t have to work for the store today?

Should this concept be called self-scan or self-scam? Fortunately, ringing up one’s own goods is still optional. Yes, it is still optional to do part time unpaid work for a retailer in which you are patronizing. Customers are doing the retailers a favor by purchasing goods at their stores. Is this how the customers are being rewarded? What will be next? Will customers go into a restaurant, order their food, be expected to prepare the food and pay the same price as if someone else had prepared the meal?

Forex and some important facts about bollinger bands

Forex trading is nowadays one of the most looked after occupation for many persons of all ages around the world. This is due to its great advantages over other capital markets and its high profitability potential; among these advantages you will find that is extremely easy to access a trading platform from the best forex broker firms thanks to the internet; and also you will notice that Forex has a high liquidity along with a high leverage.

But having a good broker firm and great trading platform is only one part of what you need in order to make your forex trading career a winning and profitable one. You need to have the right knowledge and techniques in order to forecast with the best accuracy what the market will do next. One of the techniques used to predict the Forex market behavior is that based on Bollinger Bands.

These Bollinger Bands are what is called a technical trading tool and they are widely used in the capital markets (including Forex) and were created by John Bollinger in the early 1980s. These bands technique was formulated based on the need for adaptive trading bands and the discovery that the volatility of the markets was a dynamic phenomena, not a static one as was widely believed at the time.

Bollinger Bands consist of a chart of three curves drawn in relation to currency pairs prices. The band situated in the middle is a measure of the intermediate-term trend and is usually a simple moving average, that serves as the base for the upper and lower bands. The interval between the upper, lower and the middle bands is determined by the volatility of the market, typically the standard deviation of the same data that were used for the moving average. The default parameter is 20 periods and two standard deviations above and below the middle band; of course this may be adjusted to suit your needs.

In short, the purpose of Bollinger Bands is to provide a relative definition of high and low price. By definition prices are considered high when touching the upper band and low when they touch the lower band. This relative definition can be used by the Forex trader to compare price actions and as a very useful indicator when the purpose of the trader is to arrive at rigorous buy and sell decisions.

Do you have a good credit score

A good credit score is necessary to obtain loans, credit cards, insurance, employment and some other types of purchases. If you have a good credit score your interest rates on loans and credit cards is lower than with a poor credit score. Purchases such as a cell phone require a credit check and a poor credit score requires a hefty deposit on the cell phone plan. Employers may reject your application for poor credit, if you would work with undetermined amounts of money.

People never really think about all the things their credit score affect in their every day life. Your credit history follows you everywhere you go throughout your life. If you never view your credit history, you will never know why your credit score is good or bad. It may contain certain things on your credit report that reflects badly against you, even if you believe you have excellent credit, without looking you will never know the entire reason.

Creditors and lenders may indivertibly enter the wrong information for your payment history, they may enter your name incorrectly leading back to someone else with a different social security number, but this still sends up a red flag. For some unknown reason, some creditors some how have you married when you are not. This usually happens because of living conditions. For more info see http://www. creditscorereportguide. org/Credit_Repair_Services/ on Credit Repair Services

In any case, this may reflect badly on you, if the names of the person you are suppose to be married to has a poor credit history. Although you can correct this error, you need to view your credit report annually to assure these records contain the correct information. In some cases, you may have to go to great extents to prove the credit report faulty. An investigation by the credit agency will prove your case or disprove your case. If the information found, contains errors, they will correct the problem, usually within thirty days.

The good credit score is a top limit of eight hundred and fifty with a low of five hundred and fifty points. The average person usually has a credit score of six hundred and fifty. You can raise your credit score by checking for errors in your credit history and requesting the appropriate changes. Everything you find wrong on the credit report adds to your credit score.

If you have many little charge cards, try to pay off each one right away and watch your credit score rise. The more good credit you have the higher your credit score goes. If you adjust your credit score just fifty to hundred points, it helps when applying for loans and credit cards. The higher your good credit score, the lower your interest rate as well as your insurance rates.

Appraised value the ups downs of how much a house is worth

Determining Fair Market Value is an eternal struggle and major balancing act. That’s because buyers want a house to appraise on the low side—to keep the purchase price down. While sellers want the same house to appraise on the high side—to make the sale price higher. And then you’ve got the owners of the house—who also want the appraisal to be on the low side, in order to keep the property taxes down.

So with all these different agendas and points of view, how is the fair market value of a real estate property actually determined?

Once a year, your county sends all area homeowners official notices that put a dollar value on their property. And property taxes are based on those dollar values. But before those notices get sent out, a long, detailed process usually takes place. First, the land is valued as if it’s vacant—an empty lot, in other words. Then any improvements are described and measured. Improvements consist of the house and any other structures, pools, sheds, garages, and so forth. Next, most counties check the Marshall Valuation Service Cost Guide. It’s a standardized nationwide guide for determining the value of the cost per square foot to build a building that fits the description of the improved property. Next, if the house isn’t brand new, the replacement cost is considered, as well as depreciation; the year the house was constructed and the condition of the property are factors here. Appraisers then must take the critical step of comparing the value of the house with recent selling prices of similar homes in the neighborhood. At this point, the appraisal might stand “as is”—or it might be adjusted upward or downward.

Market Value is a theory, in other words—not an unchanging fact.

In a perfect world, you have to have willing buyer and a willing seller. Neither is under duress. Both are in a position to maximize gain and are trying to do this. But in the real world, things are rarely that simple and equally balanced. Which is why people feel differently about the appraisal value of a house. It really depends how strong their position is as a buyer or seller.

Does the local economy come into it at all? You bet it does.

Ask a successful Realtor about that! He or she will tell you they’ve noticed that the Rio Grande Valley’s fast-growing economy is attracting people from other areas who consider real estate here a bargain. That helps fuel increases in property values.

So—now you know where that Grand Total comes from.

You’re armed with the information you need to make a better house-buying decision. For instance, you can understand how two virtually identical houses that are in two different neighborhoods could be very far apart in price and appraised value. And why your choice of the right house in the right neighborhood could be worth a not-so-small fortune to you right now—and years down the road.

Tips on projector rentals

Anyone who has staffed a tradeshow booth or led a training session can tell you the value of projector rentals. Here is just a small sample of the feedback shared with us by sales and training professionals:

• Travel Hassles – Projectors are extremely fragile. Traveling with them is problematic. With projector rentals, business travelers can book a rental and have it delivered ahead of time to their destination. If you often have more than one person traveling for your company, it does not make financial sense to spend money on a projector for each. Projector rentals give you the resources you need for less.

• Maintenance Issues – Projectors are costly to maintain. If something goes wrong, the cost of replacement parts can get out of hand. Depending on the model, bulbs alone can run into the hundreds of dollars. Projector rentals save you this expense. Reputable vendors always check their machines before shipping them to customers and they take responsibility for any repairs.

• Currency – Technology is always changing and it is hard for business to keep up. Projector rentals allow you access to the newest models whenever you need them. With rentals, you won’t have to deal with obsolete presentation equipment. You can create great presentations without blowing your hardware budget.

• Disposal – Disposal is an issue for all equipment, not just projectors. Projector rentals (or any equipment rental) take the onus off of you for disposal and/or recycling. The vendor removes the old equipment for you and saves you the time and energy required to find a suitable disposal method.

Here are a few tips for planning projector rentals:

• Find a vendor who offers guidance on suitable projector rentals. Your vendor should be able to recommend a specific type of projector or display based on the size of room or booth you will be presenting in and the size of the audience. Your vendor can tell you the resolution you need to ensure a bright, clear presentation.

• Ask your vendor about technical support. Bulbs have an uncanny knack for burning out right before a presentation. If you are not familiar with the projector, you may have trouble hooking it up to your laptop or desktop. In addition to projector rentals, does your vendor provide support? Do they offer only telephone support, or are technicians available to come to your training or exhibit site?

• What else do you need to make your presentation a success, and does your vendor offer it? You may require laser pointers, an audio system or even laptop rentals. Be sure to inquire about the availability of the other equipment you might need and, again, the technical support needed to set it all up.

Be prepared. Rent your equipment from a reliable projector rental company with years of experience, a highly trained support staff and a track record of providing positive results for their clients. Make sure you have run through your presentation beforehand and worked out all the kinks so you are making the most out of the time you are spending with your audience.

Marketing classes 15

Ask most people whether they feel the need to undertake marketing classes and chances are they would say no. Most people have a tendency to believe that they know whatever there is to know about marketing. And attending marketing classes is seen as a sheer waste of time, money and effort by many. However, having said all that, scores of people worldwide do pay a lot of money and invest a lot of time to enroll themselves in marketing classes. So what is it about marketing classes that gives them this sort of universal appeal?

To understand that, we must first examine what marketing classes offer to a prospective student. For most people, marketing classes are a sure shot way to getting the lowdown and the tips that various marketers have used down the ages. Instead of having to make the very same mistakes themselves, learners make use of the tips and tricks provided in marketing classes to get up to speed, in a manner of speaking. That’s not all. By interacting with people from other backgrounds and demographic profiles, who more often than not will have different perspectives of marketing classes and the wealth of information they offer, learners can make use of the classroom as a mini world scenario.

But there is one aspect of marketing classes that cannot be easily ignored or even tucked away. And this pertains to the social networking aspect of the marketing classes. Gone are the days when information flowed only from one direction. Today’s knowledge economy has evolved to a stage where the flow of information is to ways. Even ordinary people can make use of web2.0 media like blogging sites and podcasts in order to transmit their own brand of marketing knowledge to even the most erudite of marketing professionals. And it is in the web that the next generation of marketing classes are being conducted.

The internet has changed the way in which marketing classes are conducted. In fact, it would be true to say that the way in which almost all classes have been conducted has undergone a tremendous change. But as far a marketing classes and the people who attend them are concerned, almost all the change has been for the better. For one thing, it has made the marketing classes themselves more open to the two way flow of information. And for the other, it has enabled the field itself to grow and expand its scope beyond the traditional boundaries it was earlier restricted to.

Day care germs an unavoidable pest

Day Care Germs An Unavoidable Pest

Germs are everywhere. And day care germs abound. They are too small to see but we know they are there. Children can spread germs without ever getting sick themselves. They can catch colds, ear infections, diarrhea and worse. More severe illnesses like chicken pox, impetigo and hepatitis are also spread by germs. Toys are a vehicle for day care germs, so are unwashed hands of a caregiver after diaper change or blowing a child's runny nose. Runny noses don't always mean a child is sick, but the child can also be carrying something right under your nose so to speak, and you won't know it for several days until your symptoms start showing. So how can you cut back on day care germs and minimize your child's sick days Every child gets sick eventually with the average cold, but chances of spreading it to the other day care children and the sick child's family can be greatly reduced by following a few simple rules.

Always keep up to date with your child's immunizations. Schools will not enroll children in kindergarten without the immunization records filled out by the family physician. The same requirements must be met for daycare enrollment as well. Keep copies of your child's immunization records and have them ready to give to the daycare provider. You can request information on the other children enrolled in the daycare facility as well. All children enrolled in any daycare facility your child is going to should be immunized.

You should always have a backup plan for days when your child is sick and cannot attend daycare. Even if you suspect your child is catching something, he should be kept at home. The other daycare mothers will appreciate your compliance with this and they should follow suit. But there are times when some parents ignore the customary considerations surrounding children attending public environments and send their children off to daycare sick anyway.

At home, frequent hand washing can greatly reduce the chances of passing the illness on the rest of the family. As a general rule, washing your hands after coming in contact with your child is a good idea. One never knows if they are contagious with something and keeping your hands free of daycare germs, as well as any surfaces that the child may come in contact with, is good prevention. Door handles, eating utensils, toys, and plastic items such as beginner baby books should all be kept sanitized.

Toddlers should be taught right from the start to cover their mouth when they cough and proper toileting and cleanliness is a must. Stepstools in front of bathroom sinks enable children to wash their hands like big kids and colorful child-oriented soap dispensers add to the fun.

Children build immunities by being sick and then getting well. Daycare germs can speed up the process that would otherwise take place in the first years of school, even babies start building immunities by contact with other children. So a child who has never been in daycare and hasn't been sick very much will be thrown in a preschool that abounds with germs and his immunities begin to build but at the expense of lost school days. So whether parents like it or not, daycare germs do have their place in a growing child's life.

Real estate ads home style terms and their meanings

Whether you’re buying or selling, reading real estate ads can be confusing. Here are explanations of more style terms used in real estate ads.

“Split Foyer” style

A home entered by a foyer with a half flight of stairs up to the upper level (where the living spaces and one or more bedrooms are usually located) and a half flight of stairs to the lower level (typically housing the family room and additional bedrooms).

“Tri-Level” style

A home with three levels. It is typically entered on the middle level and has half flights of stairs to the highest and lowest levels. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are usually on the middle level. The bedrooms are usually on the highest level. The lowest level may be unfinished or have family room, laundry, and perhaps a garage located there.

“Contemporary” style

These vary greatly, but none looks as if it could have been built prior to 1900. Some are almost entirely of glass. Some are almost entirely under ground. Roofs can be gable (slants down on each side of a ridge line creating triangles of space at each end), shed (slants in one direction only from high on one side to low on the other), flat, or sod (grass covered) for that matter. Often several roof styles are incorporated in one home. Energy saving or indoor-outdoor connectedness tend to be designing motives. Simplicity, straight lines, and open spaces are hallmarks. Decks, patios, and terraces are frequently featured and are often constructed of the same materials used indoors.

“Victorian” style

This style is based on houses built during Queen Victoria’s reign and for a while afterwards. They are usually at least two stories tall and maybe more. They are embellished with a variety of things including porches, turrets, towers with conical roofs, pediments with fanciful shapes over doors and windows, windows to the floor with perhaps only one sheet of glass per sash. And do think “gingerbread” or wood fashioned into intricate shapes for gable ends, places where porch posts reach the ceiling, at stair landings, and so on. Modern builders usually pare this style down because of the expense, but even the most recently built examples can be rather fanciful.

Summary

When looking at homes, you’ll find particular styles appeal to you. Once you identify the styles, you can narrow your search for the perfect home.

A 100 financed bad credit mortgage loan myth or reality

Apartment dwellers and homeowners with bad or poor credit who are looking for a mortgage with 100% financing may be surprised to discover, that due to today's more lenient lending practices, it is almost as easy to get approved for a new home loan or to refinance your current mortgage with a poor credit rating than it is if you had good a credit rating.

Tip - This type of bad credit mortgage loan normally doesn't translate into lower interest rate loans. You may qualify for a 100% mortgage but the terms of the loan and interest rate won't be a favorable as if you had great credit.

Bad credit (i. e. also known as Subprime) mortgage lenders offer a variety of 100% mortgage packages for borrowers and in some instances even 103% mortgage loans are available which also include your closing costs. You have several options when it comes to this type of financing. Below are few things that should help you get started on the right track.

100% Mortgage Loans - The Good and the Bad

The primary benefit of a home loan that offers 100% financing, especially if you have less than perfect credit, is that you can purchase a home with little or no cash down. Rather than continuing to throw money down the rat hole of monthly rent you can begin to build equity in a home of your own.

On the other hand, the primary disadvantage of 100% financing is that you will pay more for financing through a higher interest rate and in many instances higher closing costs and rather than having a 15 or 30 year fixed loan you will normally get an adjustable rate mortgage than will go up after 2 or 3 years. Another risk for the homeowner is that because you are purchasing a home with no money down you will have zero equity. If the housing market goes into a slump and the value of your home declines, you could end up with a mortgage for more than your home is worth.

Tip - To find out further information about how to purchase a home with bad credit or no credit visit your local real estate company and they might be able to refer you to a bad credit mortgage specialist. Another option is to simply do research on the internet or use your local phone book but shop around because like any business the mortgage business is very competitive and more options you have the better position you will be in to get the best deal possible.

Another advantage to this type of financing is that you are generally not required to pay for private mortgage insurance because private mortgage insurance is included in the higher rate that you automatically receive due to having poor credit.
